St. Arnold Brewery is spending time in NOLA
Last week their smooth, malty, slightly sweet Spring Bock debuted on draft at Capdeville, where you can find me on-the-regular. You’ve probably seen their popular Lawnmower around as well, but my favorite is their Santo. Santo is a black Kölsch, which the Saint Arnold folks admit “technically doesn’t exist as a style.” Fortunately that doesn’t stop it from being delicious. Like German schwarzbiers or Guiness’ new Black Lager, these beers are brewed with bottom-fermenting yeast, giving them the lighter, crisper profile of lagers, with nice chocolatey/coffee flavors from the dark, roasted malts that gives them their color.
If you’re in New Orleans, be sure to catch up with the Saint Arnold folks when they come through town May 18-20 for their New Orleans Super Weekend and see what you think!
